“My dad lived here all his life, I’ve lived here all my life… it’s in my bones,” says farmer Ben Andrews of his Herefordshire home. In fact, his heritage stretches back further – his grandfathers were farmers, and gave Ben knowledge that has proved invaluable to him over the years. But that’s not all that was passed down…

“I found my grandfather’s old Belstaff jacket,” Ben explains. “I gave it a good wash off and a rewaxing, and it’s as good as new.” The Countryman jacket is a fitting partner piece to his modern Fieldmaster, and testament to hard-working resilience in a fast-changing world.

It’s a world in which Ben is pioneering inclusion and diversity with Agrespect, an organization he started with friends in 2018. They created it to promote the countryside and show that LGBTQ+ people can live full and happy lives in rural communities.

So where is Ben’s ideal place? “Scotland,” he says, with a sense of spur-of-the-moment adventure. “Just me, my husband, the dogs… in the Land Rover, tent on the roof – it’s beautiful.”
